Their first Christmas

When we first moved here to the mountains of Mexico we were struck at just how poor the people here are. My wife asked our neighbor, "Do you celebrate Christmas?"
She said, "If we have food, like maybe a chicken, we celebrate, if not, we don't."
In other words, there is no tree and there are no toys, never have been, food is the primary concern. We managed to get an American church to donate shoes, backpacks, coats and balls about two years ago but we want the kids to see what it is like to have at least one toy under the tree.
